After a miscarriage, is it okay not to go to the doctor?

Jestine Osumi: She needs to go to the doctor. Usually after a miscarriage you have to get a D&C which is basically like cleaning out the uterus. It is essential if she ever wants anymore children.

Von Houskeeper: Your friend may be okay for another week while she is waiting to be seen by her Dr. But miscarriage really is a big deal. If she has Cramping, bleeding or passing clots,or spikes a temp she should get immediate attention. Many hospitals provide "charity" or "benevolence" care, based on income and # in family. This is not just for ER visits but also for most outpatient care. Your friend may qualifyIt is no longer an "Emergency" since more than 48hrs has passed. Unless she suddenly spikes a fever or cramps continue to be very pain full the ER is unlikely to be helpful. Her best bet is to go to a "Women's Health Center"- most large towns or cities have one, which will provide care regardless of ability to pay. Family Planing may also be able to help.Your friend! 's health risks from unresolved miscarriage include possible Iron Deficiency Anemia, and the possibility that some tissue or blood clot may be retained in her Uterus. If the latter is true she is at risk for infection and may need to have the stuff removed by D&C or by Suction. ...Show more

Barton Sease: Anytime a woman has a miscarriage she needs to see a doctor right away.*not everyone woman needs to have a D&C it depends how far along you were when you had it. Both of mine i was arond 6 weeks and did not need one my body passed everything fine. But the doctor is still going to want to run blood work to check everything and check your blood type because i had to get a shot because i am O negative....Show more

Sabra Roers: the dr didnt want to see her bec she has no insurance. Anyways, there are free clinics she can go to or if she really wants to go to er she can. She doesnt need to pay them right away. They have payment plans available. She should go to a s! tate hospital or government hospital and apply for a emergency! medicaid or temp. charity where she doesnt have to pay but if she makes a lot of money she might not get approved. Worse case scenerio just dont give your real SS and ur real name heheheh so they dont come after u.But if shes not having pains or fever then, theres no need to go to the dr. Pains or fever can be a sign that you didnt expell everything out from the uterus but to make sure, you should really see a dr....Show more

Libby Berkovitch: well it's really expensive when going to the hospital. I got a billed of about 2600 just for them doing a blood test, a pee test and ultrasound nothing else.

Bibi Tyron: sounds to me like that was a miscarriage better get herself checked out by doctor i cant give any reason for the doctors not wanting to see her are you sure she did,nt went there to have an abortion why would it cost 1,500 for a simple doctor checkup.

Wilbert Shellgren: Being so early in the pregnancy, she should be fine. A lot of people have misca! rriages early on and don't even realize that they are having one, so obviously don't go see a doctor. The only other option besides going to the ER would be going to a planned parenthood or something along those lines where they provide services at a lower cost.
