Augustus Sarria: I'm not sure why. But I know 400cc is the maximum size people can ride in Japan without an advanced motorcycle license, and of those bikes built for the domestic Japanese market, many of them were exported on the gray market. I used to ride a Honda CB 400SF, excellent bike, and arguably better than the CB500.
An Trebil: The difference in performance between the 300cc bikes and the 500+cc bikes aren't different enough to make it a strong, marketable product category. The marginal improvements in performance aren't worth the cost. Technology has made that sized engine obsolete.
Stanton Valdivia: because with new technology the 250cc engine is perfectly adequate for people who want a practical bike to get from A to B. And the other class of people want to race around and ride a motorcycle for the thrill of speed. Therefore a 600cc engine is what is most desirable to these people. Although Honda does make the 2013 cb500. That's kinda close...Sh! ow more
Samatha Nicar: Cause they have better lighter materials, and people want more power without a massive weight gain.
