answers 0:why has adoption declined?answers 1:Because people don't realize how much work it is to adopt. You first need a homestudy, where they scrutinize every area of your life and would probably disqualify about 75% of parents who take their own babies home from the hospital. Then you wait, and wait, and wait. When you get the child/children, you get "babysat" by social services for 6 months-a year (sometimes longer) when they "visit" the child in your home several times a month.Let me give you my son's time-line and compare it to my niece: He was born on Aug 3rd, removed on Aug 24th. We finally took him home on March 31. Around that time, my brother and his wife started talking about having a baby, who was conceived shortly after, and born in February. We finalized his adoption two months later. (and that didn't even mention the home study proces! s, which takes an average of 6 months) Long process.......answers 2:Better treatment for infertile couples, combined with a decrease in adoptable infants due to abortion and the increasing social acceptance of unmarried motherhood.answers 3:It is a long hard process. It also is expensive and the costs and hardship turn many people off... plus children remain "stuck" for many years before their birth parents lose parental rights. They give the birth parents so many chances while the child suffers in foster cares.answers 4:I would just ask agency. Could be not financially stable, maybe you weren't a good fit for child, maybe home didn't pass inspection. I have no idea. I would ask whoever declined it.Answer mine? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201312......answers 5:There are several reasons, fewer babies are available for adoption as mothers often now keep their infants. United States adoptions have become risky as mothers can sometimes get their children back an! d some foreign countries have banned or limited adoptions to t! he United States.answers 6:It is possible that the criteria/ qualifications to adopt a child was not met or that there are too many applicants so they just chose the best qualified.answers 7:Not everybody who wants to adopt want to through foster care, they want to adopt babies. Mothers are getting more support these days and willing to help themselves by working rather than continue full time education and do that part time or continue with full time school and work part time. Fathers are more willing to step up to the mark as well.In the UK only about 77 babies were adopted in 2011 and 60 last year so the number is going down. Mothers here know what help they can get which includes free medical treatment due to the NHS, if they are on benefits they get free prescriptions and free dental treatment. Children also get free dental treatment and free prescriptions. So if people want to adopt they know they are unlikely to be able to adopt a baby but will be able to adopt ! from foster much more easily or adopt internationally....answers 8:Because surrogacy is on the upswing. So is IVF. And truth be told, adoptive parents have always wanted 'their own' to begin with. Same goes for kids. Unless there is gross abuse or neglect involved, children would rather be with their own parents.
